Handling our Puppies
At Umina Beach Groodles, we’re committed to giving our puppies a rich and nurturing start to life. From the moment they’re born, each puppy receives gentle, intentional handling and daily care to build trust, confidence, and resilience.
We expose our puppies to a wide variety of environments, helping them explore the world through smell, touch, and sound. They get to experience different textures under their paws , such as grass, rocks, woodchips, sand & water, which encourages healthy sensory development. They’re also carefully introduced to everyday sounds like lawnmowers, leaf blowers, wild birds, and even thunderstorms, helping them grow accustomed to common noises in a calm and positive way.
From around four weeks of age, our puppies begin meeting a variety of people. Friends, family, and their young children visit to gently interact with the pups, helping them form positive associations with new faces, new scents, and different voices. These early social experiences play an important role in building confident, friendly dogs who adapt well to different households and lifestyles.
Our puppies also grow alongside our own well-rounded, adult dogs. This interaction helps them learn important canine social skills, communication cues, and appropriate play behaviour, all essential for becoming balanced and socially savvy companions.
These early foundations help ensure that our Groodles leave us well-prepared for a happy, confident, and fulfilling life with their new family.
Early Introduction to Foundational Toilet Training
At Umina Beach Groodles, we begin laying the foundations of toilet training from an early age to help set your puppy up for success. As soon as the pups are developmentally ready, we introduce them to designated toileting areas, encouraging a natural separation between their sleep, play, and toilet spaces. Through consistent routines, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement, our puppies learn to move towards the correct areas on their own. While they’re still young and not yet fully trained, this early introduction gives them a strong head start, making the transition into their new homes smoother, easier, and far less stressful for both puppy and family.
*Puppies are highly situational so it is important to remember to help them find their new potty area in your home.
Gentle Introduction to Crate Familiarisation
At Umina Beach Groodles, we believe in setting each puppy up for confidence, comfort, and smooth transitions into their future homes. One of the foundations of this is our gentle introduction to crates.
From an early age, our puppies are exposed to crate spaces, but always with the doors left open. This slow and positive approach allows them to explore the crate at their own pace, building familiarity without pressure. They learn that the crate is a safe, cosy place to rest rather than something to fear or feel confined in.
By integrating open crates into their environment, our puppies naturally begin to associate them with calmness, quiet time and security. This early exposure helps reduce anxiety around crating later in life and makes the transition into crate training with their new families much easier.

Grooming Demonstration
We are more than happy to go through all grooming essentials, including: technique and having the correct grooming equipment.
*As with any low shedding dogs, there's a need for frequent grooming. If you can maintain your dogs coat between grooms you will save your doggo from having to be shaved due to matting.

Your puppy comes fully vet checked. Our wonderful and very experienced vet examines your puppy’s structure, bones, eyes, heart, teeth, ears and skin as part of their thorough check.
Your puppy will receive its first vaccination at 6 weeks of age. The next vaccination is required at 10 weeks of age, followed by a third vaccination at 14 weeks. It is very important that you do not take your puppy into public places, frequented by unknown dogs until the 14 week booster shot has been administered. Your puppy is at risk of diseases and not fully covered until the booster shot is given.
Your puppy will come microchipped at 6 weeks as required by law. The transfer of ownership process will begin upon the picking up of your puppy. The C3A form is completed and signed by both the breeder & the new owner with a copy provided to each party. The form is to be lodged to your local council. As the new family you have 14 days to lodge your copy to your local council.
All pet dogs in NSW need to be registered on the NSW Pet Registry. This must be done after the animal has been microchipped, and:
Registration covers the dog or cat for its lifetime, even if their owner changes.
